Pokémon Go Showdown in the Shadows is a Special Research quest that will guide you to face Giovanni and his powerful Shadow Regigigas. You will need to catch Pokémon, spin PokéStops or Gyms, transfer Pokémon, and defeat Team Go Rocket grunts and leaders to complete this quest. You will also receive various rewards along the way, such as XP, Stardust, Berries, Balls, Potions, Revives, and encounters with Phantump, Galarian Yamask, and Gengar (Trick or Treat costume). Event Bonuses

How to Get Pokemon Go Showdown in the Shadows Giovanni Special Research
If you want to get the Pokemon GO Showdown in the Shadows Giovanni Special Research, you need to follow these steps:
- First, you need to complete any previous Giovanni Special Research that you have not finished yet. You can check your progress in the Today View of the game.
- Next, you need to claim the Showdown in the Shadows Special Research from the Professor before December 1, 2023, at 10 AM local time. This research is free and does not require a ticket.
- Then, you need to complete the six stages of the research, which involve tasks such as battling Team GO Rocket Grunts, defeating Team GO Rocket Leaders, and purifying Shadow Pokemon.
- Finally, you need to face Giovanni himself and challenge him to a battle. If you win, you will have a chance to catch a Shadow Ho-Oh, a legendary fire and flying type Pokemon.

The highlight of this event is the debut of Shadow Lugia in five-star raids. This is a special form of Lugia that was first seen in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness on Nintendo GameCube. You will only have one day to challenge Shadow Lugia in raids on Oct. 28 from 10am to 8pm local time.
