Sega has announced the upcoming release of “Sonic Rumble,” a new mobile game that promises to bring the high-speed action of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise to the battle royale genre. Slated for release on both Android and iOS platforms this winter, Sonic Rumble will pit 32 players against each other in a race to the finish line, with a constantly changing landscape and a variety of obstacles to overcome.
The game takes place in a “cheery toy world” created by Sonic’s nemesis, Dr. Eggman, and will feature a diverse cast of characters from the Sonic universe, including fan favorites like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow, as well as lesser-known characters such as the Chaotix crew and Blaze the Cat.
Players will take control of these iconic characters, customizing their toy-like avatars with a variety of outfits and accessories as they compete to collect the most rings and emerge victorious. The game’s Fall Guys-inspired gameplay will challenge players to navigate through intricate obstacle courses, avoiding hazards and outmaneuvering their opponents in a thrilling race to the finish line.
Sonic Rumble marks a collaboration between Sega and Rovio, the creators of the popular Angry Birds franchise, and is set to offer a unique blend of Sonic’s signature speed and platforming with the competitive, multiplayer elements of the battle royale genre.
Fans of the Sonic franchise and battle royale enthusiasts alike will have the opportunity to experience Sonic Rumble firsthand, as Sega has announced a closed beta test scheduled for May 24-26, 2024. Interested players can sign up on the game’s official website, with selection on a first-come, first-served basis.
With its vibrant visuals, diverse character roster, and engaging multiplayer gameplay, Sonic Rumble promises to be a thrilling addition to the Sonic the Hedgehog universe, offering a fresh and exciting way for players to experience the iconic blue blur’s high-speed adventures.
